Investigating the role of serotonin in inflammatory responses induced by Helicobacter pylori infection

H. pylori infection leads to inflammation in the gastric mucosa and disrupts the gastric microbiota by reducing its diversity. Our study showed that serotonin (5-HT) has a role in gastric inflammation. In H. pylori infected mice, changes in the gastric microbiota were observed, indicating links between serotonin, inflammation, and microbiota composition.
