Replication data and code for Beyond Exact Match: A Product-Space Measure of Trade Similarity

Country-level data and Stata code accompanying Beyond Exact Match: A Product-Space Measure of Trade Similarity by Charlie Joyez, revised manuscript dated 11 September 2026. The package contains three files: README.txt, trade.dta, and replication.do. It reproduces Table 1 and the empirical comparisons reported in the paper, including aggregation sensitivity, correlations, country rankings, and the adapted Crespo–Simões comparison over 1996–2024. The dataset contains 6,464 economy-year observations, including 226 economies in 2024, derived from CEPII BACI HS96 release V202601; the group comparison uses World Bank FY2025 income classifications. The code starts from country-level estimates and does not reconstruct the baseline indices or product-proximity matrices from raw bilateral trade flows. Requires Stata 14 or later and no additional packages. Tested in Stata/MP 14.0.
