资源简介:
The study was conducted in 2010 in Poland using the CAPI method. The participants in the study were randomly selected, but only those who were at least 40 years old and thus remembered the time of communism in Poland were selected. The total nationally representative sample for people aged at least 40 was N = 614. The database consists of multiple variables that can be grouped as follows:
- Sociodemographic variables (age, gender, education, voivodeship, standard of living) - Variables describing life scenarios of progress or decline (both individual and collective) (variables: life.scenario.personal, life.scenario.country)
- Opinions about different areas of life before 1989, expressed using Likert's scale ranging from 1 to 7 (variables: life.general.P89, work.P89, family.P89, health.P89, finances.P89, friendships.P89, satisfaction.P89, leisure.P89, perspectives.P89, security.P89, hobbies.P89)
- Opinions about current life in various areas, as of 2010, expressed using Likert's scale from 1 to 7 (variables: life.general.now, work.now, family.now, health.now, finances.now, friendships.now, satisfaction.now, leisure.now, perspectives.now, security.now, hobbies.now)
- Perceived collective continuity scale by Sani et al. (2008), in a shortened 12-item version adapted to the Polish context. The scale consisted of two dimensions corresponding to two types of continuity: cultural (e.g., "Polish people have passed down their traditions across different generations"; "Shared values, beliefs, and attitudes of Polish people have endured across times"; α = .86) and narrative ("Polish history is a sequence of interconnected events"; "There is a causal link between different events in Polish history"; α = .70). Participants indicated their agreement with the items on a 7-point Likert scale (variables: PCC1 to PCC12)
- National Identification scale developed by Roccas et al. (2006), in an adapted form for the Polish context. A 16-item version of the scale was used. Attachment subscale items included statements like "I love Poland" and "Being Polish is an important part of my identity" (α = .91), while glorification subscale items included statements like "Compared to other nations, Poles are very moral" and "Poles are better than any other nation in every respect" (α = .78). Participants indicated their agreement on a 7-point Likert scale (variables: Roccas1 to Roccas16)
- Nostalgia Questionnaire scale by Havlena & Holak (2000), adapted by Prusik & Lewicka (2010). The scale was used to measure restorative and reflective types of nostalgia. Eleven items were used to measure restorative nostalgia (e.g., "I miss 'the good old days'"; "I like to daydream about things I have done in the past"), and ten items were used to measure reflective nostalgia (e.g., "I like to look at photos I have taken"; "I like to read books or watch movies about other times and places"). Both scales demonstrated satisfactory reliability (restorative nostalgia, α = .83; reflective nostalgia, α = .79). However, the full version of the nostalgia scale (31 items, variables INP1 to INP31) was included in the stored database.
