资源简介:
Atmospheric Rivers (ARs) play an important role in producing some high-impact weather events such as extreme precipitation and flooding, damaging winds, and temperature anomalies. The ERA5-based Dataset for Atmospheric River Analysis (EDARA), which has been deposited into the Federated Research Data Repository (https://doi.org/10.20383/103.0935), was compiled to facilitate various studies on the short- and long-term variability and impacts of ARs. In EDARA, 12 relevant meteorological variables were derived from the ECMWF reanalysis version 5 (ERA5), with the AR shapes determined by the Tracking Atmospheric Rivers Globally as Elongated Targets version 3 (tARget-v3) algorithm based on the global distribution of Integrated Vapour Transport (IVT). The current dataset, S-EDARA, is a supplement to the EDARA. It consists of three additional variables (ARS4, SIVT, PTPR) and an interactive web browser-based graphical tool for visualizing the ARs and their impacts on global scales. ARS4 is the AR shape determined by the tARget-v4 algorithm, which is an improved version of tARget-v3. SIVT marks up the areas where IVT is stronger than its local 85th percentile. PTPR, which stands for Pseudo Total Precipitation Rate, represents the potential contribution of IVT convergence to precipitation. The monthly graphical catalogues highlight the potential AR impacts based on the 6-hourly distributions of ARS4, SIVT, PTPR, as well as the near-surface gusty winds and temperature anomalies. The combination of EDARA and S-EDARA can serve as a more valuable resource for AR-related research and applications.
