Response of liquid nitrogen seeding in warm region: aircraft observation and microphysical analysis

The seeding experiment measured vertical cloud structure through in situ aircraft observation and detected increased liquid water content but fewer large droplets within seeded cloud. The study implies that liquid nitrogen seeding in warm region facilitates activation of fine aerosol particles into small droplets due to reduction in saturation vapor pressure caused by cooling effect of liquid nitrogen evaporation, therefore promote or inhibit precipitation by altering droplet size distribution.
