Microbial diversity and depth-profile of dimethylsulfide (DMS)-degrading methanogens in anoxic Baltic Sea sediments

Sediment was collected from three sampling sites (H2, H3 and H5) and seven depths (0-65 cm) in the Baltic Sea (specifically the Himmerfjarden estuary). The sediment was incubated with dimethylsulfide (DMS) to provide the first insight into the depth-profile of DMS degrading methanogens in anoxic sediments.
