Metagenomic Analysis of the Effect of Lactobacillus helveticus R0052-Derived Membrane Vesicles on Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Colitis was induced in male BALB/c mice for 10 days using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS), during which membrane vesicles (052-MVs) derived from Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 were administered in treated mice via oral gavage. Treated mice were also pre-gavaged with 052-MVs for 10 days prior to DSS-induction. The goal was to assess the ability of 052-MVs to ameliorate colitis by modulating the structure and diversity of the gut microbiota in treated mice.
