PRRSV and SARS-CoV-2 both belong to the order Nidovirales, and they are highly similar in pathogenesis, transmission dynamics, and host adaptability. Through analyzing the interaction mechanism between PRRSV and ACE2, this study breaks through the research limitation of "only focusing on the genus Coronavirus" and extends the research value to the entire order Nidovirales. This not only provides a new perspective for understanding the infection mechanism of coronaviruses (such as SARS-CoV-2), but also offers a paradigm for the research on host interactions of other viruses in the order Nidovirales that have not been thoroughly studied (such as members of the Arteriviridae and Roniviridae families), promoting a systematic understanding of the infection mechanisms of viruses at the order level.
