These volumes provide a record of state-wide correspondence classified by the Board of Fire Commissioners as "B" (possibly Building) Letters. These volumes covered theatres and public halls, hospitals, mental institutions, nursing homes, hostels, showgrounds, and schools. Commercial buildings are listed under the category of "Firms" and include office buildings, retail outlets, factories and warehouses.
