This study utilizes a comprehensive dataset collected from British media outlets between January 2023 and August 2024, focusing on the portrayal of refugee women and children, with a particular emphasis on missing refugee children. The dataset includes visual and thematic analyses of media representations, sourced from prominent news organizations such as the BBC, Daily Mail, Financial Times, and Metro.Key variables in the dataset include:<b>Source</b> (e.g., news outlets),<b>Keyword focus</b> (e.g., immigrant/refugee women and children),<b>Visual categories</b> (e.g., crowd, faceless figures, criminalization, parenting, life goes on, and war-torn settings),<b>Face presence</b> (whether faces are shown),<b>Relevancy</b> (relevance of the coverage to the studied topics), and<b>Nationality</b> (e.g., Ukrainian, Syrian, Afghan, and others).The dataset categorizes the media’s visual strategies based on dehumanization and humanization themes, aiming to capture how media framing shifts across events such as UK elections and anti-immigrant protests.
