Data Set (Questionnaire and Interview transcriptions)

This study examines cognitive abilities, particularly critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, of postgraduate EFL students from three Northern Thai universities. A stratified random sampling technique was employed to select the participants from 54 (23-25 years old, 29 females, 25 males, Thai and international students) purposive for the research. Participants completed bilingual, paper, and online questionnaires as part of the quantitative assessment; descriptive statistics and t-tests suggested participants have quiz bowl proficiency, but some differences emerged in creative problem-solving. Interviews: face-to-face, online, and semi-structured interviews provided qualitative data that prompted an understanding of the significance of supervision in the growth of skills.
