Interviews on municipal efforts to survey uninhabited domestic buildings in Sweden

This data was gathered between October 2022 and April 2023, within the research project "Renovation Practices in Abandoned Homes – Improved conditions for careful energy efficiency measures<i>." </i>The aim of this project is to gather new information about the uninhabited domestic building stock in Sweden, study how they are renovated and heated by new owners, and discuss possible ways to stimulate future utilization in sustainable, energy-efficient and culturally attentive ways. The first part of the project, for which the present data was collected, focused on gathering information about built characteristics and potentials related to the uninhabited domestic building stock, via experiences from municipal officials having surveyed such buildings. This method was employed as an alternative to raw data access and analysis, which was unattainable due to GDPR restrictions.Data was gathered through semi-structured, explorative interviews with 21 municipal officials and one private individual, conducted and recorded online in Swedish via Zoom and Teams. The majority of interviews were conducted one-on-one, except for three occasions where cooperating officials participated together. Interviewees and municipalities have been anonymized. Names and specific geographical locations have been removed. Each document contains one transcribed interview in Swedish.
