We studied the bacterial responses to inflow of terrestrial dissolved organic matter in a sub-arctic estuary in the northern Baltic Sea (Rane river estuary), using a 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding approach. Bacterioplankton diversity changed following the runoff fluctuation from spring to summer. Using network analyses on 16S rRNA and network distribution models we elucidate associations among bacterioplankton populations and determine generalist or specialist dynamics on the bacterial community. Few descriptions on bacterioplankton ecological dynamics have being done to disentangle the bacterial ecological roles. Since coastal ecosystems in the sub-arctic zone are strongly affected by climate change effects, this description of bacterioplankton ecological roles get importance to further model the coastal community and its adjustment to climate change.
