This project is a transcriptomic analysis during zygotic embryo development of Pinus pinaster. The molecular mechanisms governing conifer embryogenesis are still largely unknown, and their elucidation may contribute valuable information to clarify if the distinct features of embryo development in angiosperms and gymnosperms result from differential gene regulation. Results indicate that characteristic transcriptional changes are associated with each developmental period, and that major events during embryogenesis are orchestrated by putative orthologs of regulators of these processes in angiosperms.
