FROM RITUAL TO IDENTITY: EXPLORING THE ROLE OF THE WEDDING DAIS IN ACEH'S CUSTOMARY LIFE

The Acehnese wedding dais is a key cultural symbol, reflected through its design, color (red, yellow, green), and gold/red embroidery featuring floral and geometric motifs. Traditionally used in marriage ceremonies, it also appears in other customs like khitan (circumcision), peusijuek, and seven-month rituals. This qualitative research uses observation, interviews, and visual documentation to explore its broader cultural roles. Findings show that the dais functions beyond decoration—as a medium for cultural preservation and public education. It is also displayed in museums and customary offices.亚齐族婚礼台（Acehnese wedding dais）是核心文化符号，其造型设计、色彩搭配（红、黄、绿）以及饰有花卉与几何纹样的金红刺绣均充分彰显了这一文化属性。该器物传统上用于婚礼仪式，同时也见于割礼（khitan, circumcision）、peusijuek以及婴儿七月龄仪式等其他亚齐传统习俗之中。本项定性研究采用观察法、访谈法与视觉记录手段，探究该婚礼台更广泛的文化功能。研究结果表明，其功能远超装饰范畴，可作为文化传承与公众教育的媒介。此外，该婚礼台还会在博物馆与传统民俗办公场所中展出。
