The study explores: Breastfeeding practices and support.Early childhood feeding practices and transitions.Food and nutrient intakes of infants, toddlers, and young children. The impact of WIC services on feeding practices.Children’s weight status and early precursors of obesity.Environmental factors influencing nutrition outcomes.Factors associated with the duration of WIC participation.Behavioral and trend changes compared to the previous major study, WIC IFPS-1.Data were collected during the prenatal period and throughout the child’s first nine years of life at specific intervals, specifically at child ages 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, and 72 months and at age 9 years. Study Design Type: Longitudinal cohort study.Duration: 2013–2023.Scale: Data collected from participants enrolled in 80 WIC sites across 27 State agencies.Respondents: Caregivers of children who received WIC services around birth.Data Collection Methods Survey Data: Telephone interviews with caregivers.Anthropometric Data: Children’s length/height and weight collected at WIC clinics or healthcare visits.Dietary Intake: Assessed using the USDA Automated Multiple Pass Method.Data Characteristics Content: Caregiver-level responses, child anthropometric data, derived analytic variables, and weights for national estimates.Privacy: No personally identifiable information included.Limitations: Subject to recall bias; see annual reports for details.Sampling precision: This dataset includes sampling weights that can be applied to produce national estimates.
