China (2006): HIV/AIDS TRaC Study Examining Condom Use among Female Sex Workers in Mengzi, Yunnan Province. Second Round.

Tracking surveys serve as tools to inform programming by routinely collecting data from cross-sections of populations at risk for HIV/AIDS and other adverse health outcomes. This survey among female sex workers (FSW) aimed to: 1) identify and describe segments of FSW in terms of consistent condom use with commercial partners, and condom use with regular partners; 2) gain an understanding of opportunity, ability and motivational factors that related to HIV risk behaviour; 3) monitor key determinants of behaviour and logframe indicators over time; 4) measure change in key indicators and promoted behaviors in relation to exposure to PSI/China activities; and 5) use study data to improve an ongoing social marketing and behavior change communication campaign for HIV/AIDS risk reduction among FSW.Cluster sampling of hotspots was used to collect data among 495 FSW in Mengzi in November and December 2006. The study questionnaire collected data on FSWs opportunity, ability and motivation to consistently use condoms with sexual partners.
