River Forecast Center Network Monthly Precipitation

River Forecast Center Network Monthly Precipitation is digital data set DSI-6410, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This is monthly precipitation data. Data is collected by the thirteen River Forecast Centers (RFC) of the US National Weather Service. Data is sent to another NWS office, the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), via the Automated Forecast and Observation System (AFOS). Many sites are also cooperative observer sites that contribute meteorological data to the DS-32xx series of data sets at NCDC. Other sites belong to other networks. The data undergoes no quality control at NCDC. It is archived as it is received from CPC. Data are from the areas assigned to the RFCs; the areas consist of the United States of America excluding Hawaii.
