A survey dataset to better understand the honey bee industry, use and value of natural resources and challenges for beekeepers in Western Australia: A beekeepers' perspective

This dataset presents responses to the Natural Resources for Beekeepers Questionnaire (Western Australia) 2020-21 in a series of tables in non-identifiable aggregated format. The online quantitative survey was the first comprehensive, spatially referenced survey of beekeepers in Western Australia since 1990. It is also the first to survey all beekeepers, including backyard beekeepers as well as amateur-hobbyist and commercial beekeepers. The survey focussed on beekeeping practices, use of natural resources and economic attributes associated with honey bee products, native flora and environmental challenges relating to apiary sites. The dataset gives measures related to the production system and profitability of the Western Australian beekeeping industry, focussing on the 2019-2020 season and historical production. The raw survey data is not available due to human research ethics approval requirements, agreement with the Beekeeping Industry Council of Western Australia and conditions in the participants’ consent, therefore summary statistics are given. Access to the survey questions, answer options, directional flow and display logic have been made available to assist with referencing results and reproducibility of a complex online questionnaire in the future and/or for other jurisdictions.

本数据集以去标识化聚合格式的系列表格，呈现了《西澳大利亚州养蜂人自然资源调查问卷（Natural Resources for Beekeepers Questionnaire）》2020-2021年度的应答数据。本次线上定量调查为1990年以来西澳大利亚州首次兼具全面性与空间参考属性的养蜂人群体调查，亦是首次覆盖所有类型养蜂群体的普查，涵盖居家后院养蜂者、业余爱好者养蜂人与商业养蜂从业者。调查聚焦养蜂实操规范、自然资源利用情况，以及与蜂产品、本土植被相关的经济属性，还有蜂场选址面临的各类环境挑战。本数据集涵盖西澳大利亚州养蜂产业的生产体系与盈利水平相关统计指标，重点覆盖2019-2020年度生产季及历史生产数据。由于人类受试者研究伦理审批要求、与西澳大利亚州养蜂产业委员会（Beekeeping Industry Council of Western Australia）达成的合作协议，以及受试者知情同意书中的相关条款，原始调查数据无法公开披露，因此本数据集仅提供汇总统计结果。为便于未来复现该复杂线上问卷的研究成果、引用本次调查结论，或供其他地区参考借鉴，本数据集已公开调查问卷题目、作答选项、答题流向与展示逻辑等全套相关材料。
