NWG Woody Plant Diversity

The data collected in the field work on documentation of Woody plant species at Northern Western Ghats (India) has been submitted here in this data set. A total of 12 sites over a 250 km stretch of NWG bordering Pune (11 sites) and Satara (1 site) districts, Maharashtra, India were chosen for this study. The sites mostly represented crest line forests (Eastern slopes) in the NWG. Ten to 20 quadrats (30 m×15 m) separated from each other by at least 100 m were laid down at each site. Individual woody plant species including trees, shrubs and lianas having GBH more than 10 cm were counted in each quadrat and documented. Data collection at these sites was done during March to May 2017 and during November 2017 to January 2018, when most of the herbaceous flora had withered.
