NWG Woody Plant Diversity

The data collected in the field work on documentation of Woody plant species at Northern Western Ghats (India) has been submitted here in this data set. A total of 12 sites over a 250 km stretch of NWG bordering Pune (11 sites) and Satara (1 site) districts, Maharashtra, India were chosen for this study. The sites mostly represented crest line forests (Eastern slopes) in the NWG. Ten to 20 quadrats (30 m×15 m) separated from each other by at least 100 m were laid down at each site. Individual woody plant species including trees, shrubs and lianas having GBH more than 10 cm were counted in each quadrat and documented. Data collection at these sites was done during March to May 2017 and during November 2017 to January 2018, when most of the herbaceous flora had withered.本数据集收录了印度西高止山脉北部（Northern Western Ghats，后文简称NWG）木本植物物种调查的野外实测数据。本研究共选取横跨NWG边界、总长250公里的12个调查样地，其中11个位于印度马哈拉施特拉邦浦那（Pune）辖区，1个位于萨塔拉（Satara）辖区。这些样地主要覆盖NWG东部坡面的山脊线森林生境。每个样地内布设10至20个规格为30米×15米的样方，样方间最小间距不小于100米。对每个样方内胸高围度（GBH）大于10厘米的乔木、灌木及木质藤本等木本植物个体进行计数并记录存档。本次野外数据采集分为两个时段：2017年3月至5月，以及2017年11月至2018年1月，此时绝大多数草本植物已枯萎凋零。
