Data behind the Figure for the manuscript titled "Ocean Tides on Asynchronously Rotating Planets Orbiting Low-mass Stars". (submission ID AAS62468) Data.zip: All data are direct outputs of MITgcm (http://mitgcm.org). This .zip file contains two types of output files used to produce the figures in the manuscript: I. File name starts with U-V-ETA These files provide time series data of tidal fields over the course of one tidal period. Specifically, they include: 1) Tidal current fields: Two-dimensional velocity components, starting with u-output (zonal/longitudinal) and v-output (meridional/latitudinal). 2) Tidal height fields: Two-dimensional surface elevation data, starting with eta-output. For instance, "eta-output.0000432000.001.001.data" contains the surface elevation data (unit: m) at T=43,200,000 sec. Together, these outputs represent the temporal evolution of tidal currents and tidal height within a single tidal cycle. II. File name starts with Rot-U-V-ETA These files correspond to sensitivity tests varying the planetary rotation rate. They contain a single snapshot of: 1) Tidal current, starting with U and V (u and v components). 2) Tidal height, starting with Eta. This snapshot illustrates the steadily translating spatial pattern of tidal current and tidal elevation. To read the data files, follow Chapter 11 of the MITgcm documentation. The method of calculating tidal dissipation from velocity field is elaborated in section Tidal Drag and Dissipation Processes in the manuscript.
