Beyond criterion: cognitive flexibility in wild striated caracaras

This dataset contains binary success outcomes for a two-choice color discrimination and reversal learning task.We tested free-ranging striated caracaras from 17 Aug to 11 Sept 2024 (austral winter) on privately owned Saunders Island, Falkland Islands (51.3667° S, 60.0833° W; human population 6). We conducted 2,014 trials spanning 32 individuals (18 of which participated in both tasks). The accompanying R script contains code that facilitates data upload and our analysis of group level performance and individual level learning trajectories. We compare individual level learning trajectories to simulated null distributions as a more nuanced measure of learning than the traditionally used metric of trials-to-criterion.
