Deadwood bacteriomes of the extracellular and intracellular DNA fraction and the total DNA poolPicea abies deadwood log samples were colleted from Hunter (1990) decay stages I, III and V. The DNA was extracted from both extracellular and intracellular DNA fractions and the total DNA pool. The 16S rDNA was sequenced using Illumina Miseq sequecing. We asked if and in which regard the bacteriomes of the DNA types differed. Furthermore, we addressed how bacteriome projects can benefit from the choice of DNA type.
