Double Metal Foreign Body Inhalation

The authors present the case of the extraction of a double metal foreign body following inhalation by a 4-year-old child (metal pin and metal spiral shaped object) in his right bronchus.A foreign body (FB) inhalation is a common event, especially among children and young adults. Two metallic FB inhalations in children have rarely been described. The authors report the child's case who presented to the accident and emergency department with a two-hour history of choking and coughing while playing with his sister. There were no signs of respiratory distress. A plain chest x-ray demonstrated double radio-opaque shadows inside the RT bronchus intermediate. A rigid bronchoscopy was performed under general anesthesia, and the two metallic objects were removed. The procedure was uneventful and the child was discharged six hours after in good general condition.
