The origin of the risk characterises the real-world entity which, through its presence, represents a potential risk. This origin may be characterised by a name and, in some cases, a geographical object locating the actual entity causing the risk. The location of the entity and the knowledge of the hazardous phenomenon are used to define the risk pools, the risk-exposed areas that underpin the RPP.In RTPs, it represents the enclosure of the facility(s) classified for environmental protection (ICPE) at the origin of the risk analysed and addressed by the RPP. In the PPRT methodology, it is described as a grey area.风险源（risk origin）指因自身存在而构成潜在风险的现实实体。该风险源可通过名称进行表征，部分场景下还可通过用于定位造成该风险的实际实体的地理对象补充描述。实体的位置与对危险现象的认知，可用于界定风险池——即支撑风险防护计划（RPP）的风险暴露区域。在风险处置计划（RTPs）中，风险源指代经RPP分析并处置的风险源处的环保分类设施（ICPE）的封闭范围。在PPRT方法论中，该风险源被界定为灰色地带。
