Radar Precipitation maps 5-minute intervals 2016-2019 Netherlands

What is the data? Curated precipitation maps from the Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Institut (KNMI) in 5-minute intervals. The data is generated by two C-band Doppler weather radar stations situated in De Bilt (52.10N, 5.18E, 44 m MSL) and Den Helder (52.96N, 4.79E, 51 m MSL), the Netherlands. To acquire a rain map, the two radars perform four azimuthal scans of 360 around a vertical axis beam elevation angles of 0.3, 1.1, 2.0 , and 3.0. How to use it? Dataset is associated with the paper SmaAt-UNet. In order to create the datasets from the paper the script from create_datasets.py needs to be used. This creates the two datasets with the 20% and 50% rain threshold. New datasets can be created when using different thresholds.
