Microbiome associated with multiple organs of neotenic and metamorphosed Axolotl was profiled using MySeq sequencing machine based on Illumina 16s amplicon sequencing technology. While both neotenic and metamorphosed Axolotls were kept on a constant diet, metamorphosis of selected animals was experimentally induced using Thyroid hormone administration. Microbiome of four sample groups (skin, stomach, gut and fecal) was investigated at both developmental stages. Aquarium water samples were included as a control sample group. Generated sequencing data was used to gain novel insights into various aspects of Axolotl microbiota such as microbial diversity and differential OTU abundances in the context of metamorphosis, tissue specificity etc.
