In 2022, California was the state with the largest number of newly installed residential solar systems in the United States. The Golden State installed more than 258,000 home solar systems that year. California was also the state with the largest cumulative number of residential systems installed. The total number of residential solar installations has increased significantly in the last years across the United States.
