The disease resistance of strawberries can be significantly enhanced by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa incubated with chitosan. But the molecular mechanisms involved in the enhanced disease resistance of strawberries was not explored comprehensively. In recent years, the rise of transcriptome has provided favorable conditions for the exploration of the molecular mechanisms in various fields. In this study, the transcriptome combined with bioinformatics analysis results revealed that some genes involved in the plant hormone signal transduction pathways, synthesis of disease resistant substances, ROS regulation, cell wall enhancement were all up-regulated by R. mucilaginosa incubated with chitosan to enhance the disease resistance of strawberries. These results provided a theoretical reference for further study of the molecular mechanisms involved in enhancing disease resistance of fruits induced by antagonistic yeast incubated with elicitor molecule and would provide a theoretical basis to accelerate the application process of antagonistic yeast.
