This series contain submissions in the form of letters and reports of the MANS Study (Major Airport Needs of Sydney). These submissions are in chronological date order. Submissions were received from major stake holders including the airlines, local councils affected by the proposals of the study and resident groups. The Reports contain an introduction, appendix, maps, graphs, statistical and written information.Reports of studies contain information regarding: aviation, aircraft and passenger forecasts, supply, curfews in Sydney and other major world airports, cost analysis relating to airport user costs, aviation costs, defence costs, congestion and closure costs, access capital costs, noise costs, urbanisation as well as scenarios for short-listing, schedule selection model and results of Medium-listing.Interim reports contain: forecasting, airspace and congestion, technology and operations, surface access, financial, airport planning, urbanisation, environmental, public participation, consultative groups and work programs.Environmental Studies contain an evaluation of the biological, physical and human interest aspects as well as the identification of existing features, importance of features in a regional context, effects of the airport on site and a reduction of adverse effects.Item 191 contains a single bound volume of miscellaneous papers comprising of work flow diagrams, reports with maps and a list of the names of the members of the Consultative Group.This series also contains the decisions and action responsibilities that arose from the meetings, a summary of the distribution of Information Bulletins and Consultative Group Reports and an index to the Commonwealth/State Committee Papers.The MANS Study was a joint Commonwealth/State Committee announced by the Prime Minister of Australia and the Premier of New South Wales on 20 October 1976. The study consisted of eight representatives - four nominated by Commonwealth Government and four by the State. (1) The purpose of the study was a joint approach to identifying a suitable strategy for major airport development, including associated surface access and land use, in the Sydney region. Options considered in the MANS study are: a) further development of the Kingsford Smith Airport, b) development of a second major airport either as a international airport or as a purely a domestic one c) traffic management measures to use the existing capacity more efficiently and d) doing nothing to provide additional runway capacity or to use the existing capacity more efficiently. MANS研究由澳大利亚联邦与州联合委员会牵头，该委员会于1976年10月20日由澳大利亚总理与新南威尔士州州长联合宣布成立。该委员会共设8名代表，其中4名由联邦政府提名，4名由新南威尔士州政府提名。
