Function Features of Objects

21 Participants were shown the names of 100 different everyday objects, and asked to describe the function of each of them. This freeform response data was then hand-coded by tallying the number of times a given function property was named. These were coded as verbatim as possible, except were re-naming was required for disambiguation or for combining very close synonyms. Details of coding are omitted here but available on request. The resulting data file lists each object and its value on all of its supplied features.本研究招募21名参与者，向其展示100种不同日常物品的名称，并要求逐一描述各物品的功能。针对收集到的开放式作答数据，研究人员通过统计某一功能属性被提及的频次完成人工编码。编码过程尽可能保留原始表述，仅当需要消除歧义或合并高度近似的同义词时，才会对表述进行重新命名。本次研究未在此处披露编码细节，如有需要可另行索取。最终生成的数据文件列出了每一种物品及其在所有已提供特征上的对应取值。
