Ion Test Particle Simulation, May 2024 Geomagnetic Storm

Ion test particle simulations for the Journal of Geophysical Research article "The Day-side Magnetic Reconnection Rate and Cusp Ion Dispersion During the May 2024 Geomagnetic Storm." The files "sim_pXX.mat" are for TP interval 1 and "sim2_pXX.mat" for TP interval 2. Output cadence is 1 second. Output variables are particle [x,y,z] location, energy, logical isIn (whether the particle is within the simulation domain), and pitch angle. Only those particles which hit the inner boundary (at 2.5 R_E altitude) were saved. File format is Matlab .mat file. The zenodo repository https://zenodo.org/records/11073300 includes a script to generate synthetic satellite observations in the northern cusp.
