Arctic lakes dataset (Lakes_cci) -Lake water extent of selected arctic lakes based on Sentinel-1 data

This dataset provides a transparent, well documented, and FAIR-compliant record of lake water extent dynamics for Arctic and sub‑Arctic lakes derived from Sentinel‑1 SAR data. By combining deep learning segmentation, standardized metadata, and open licensing, the product enables robust use in hydrology, climate research, and environmental monitoring. While known limitations remain—particularly under ice‑affected conditions—the dataset offers a consistent, reproducible, and openly accessible foundation for long‑term lake monitoring and future integration with complementary water‑level, ice, and modelling products.
