This empirical analysis presents teaching models of critical pedagogy. It identifies teaching activities and strategies that resemble characteristics of critical pedagogy. The research applies participatory action research (PAR) to see how critical pedagogy can be introduced through language teaching in Bahasa Indonesia and English. The study was conducted in Jombang, East Java, Indonesia. The researchers work collaboratively with the Indonesia association teachers or Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia (PGRI) and student-teacher at one private university in this municipality. Literature regarding methods in teaching writing for students in the EFL context is explored and used for analysing the data. The findings indicate that Critical pedagogy can be implemented through different teaching strategies. All the strategies resemble critical pedagogy principles, such as Historicity, dialogic, authenticity, and liberation models.
