Florida worm lizard (Rhineura floridana) is a species of amphisbaeninan in the family Rhineuridae. It is the only extant member of the genus Rhineura, and is found primarily in Florida (from Wikipedia entry). This sample was collected in Gainesville Florida, by David Blackburn and Stuart Nielsen, coordinated by Bob Murphy, and used to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis.
