Isles of Scilly Historic Environment Research Framework

The project comprises the first two stages of the Scilly Historic Environment Research Framework (SHERF), the Resource Assessment and Research Agenda.. Its aim is to provide a structure in which to make decisions about future historic environment research. It is part of an English Heritage initiative to prepare a series of research frameworks for the whole country. The Resource Assessment is a comprehensive overview of the Islands from the Palaeolithic to the present day, which aims to provide an accessible and up-to-date review of the current state of knowledge about the historic environment. It also aims to define the character of the resource and to act as a reference to inform decisions on the future of that resource. The Research Agenda highlights the major gaps in our knowledge and also areas where Scilly's historic environment has the potential to contribute to national and international research questions. The final stage of the project, the Research Strategy, will be a follow-on project and published separately.
