Soil Monitoring Systems in EJP SOIL Countries – Survey Dataset

This dataset contains the results of a survey conducted in 2021 and 2024 as part of the EJP SOIL project. The survey collected detailed information on national soil monitoring systems (SMSs) from 24 participating countries, focusing primarily on agricultural soils. Experts were asked about sampling protocols, analytical methods, monitored properties, and their willingness to collaborate with EU-wide initiatives such as LUCAS Soil. The dataset also includes metadata on the objectives, start dates, accessibility, and institutional context of each SMS. A separate sheet compiles information on the soil properties monitored and the corresponding measurement methods. This dataset supports the comparative analysis presented in Mason et al. (2025.) and aims to inform harmonisation strategies in light of the upcoming EU Soil Monitoring Law (SML).
