Natural hydrocarbon-contaminated springs as a reservoir of microorganisms useful for bioremediation

This research aimed to characterize hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria isolated from naturally hydrocarbon-contaminated springs and the surrounding soils and to evaluate the effectiveness of bioaugmentation using a microbial consortium, for hydrocarbon removal in artificially diesel-contaminated lake waters, through mesocosm experiments.
