We propose observations with the Ultra-wide-bandwidth Low (UWL) receiver installed at the Parkes telescope to carry out a study of the giant micro-pulses. The giant micro-pulse is a rare phenomenon, in which the flux density is significantly greater than typical value at specific pulse phases, but the overall integrated flux density of the profile remains approximately constant. The physics of them are still unclear. The UWL receiver will provide us with information at widely separated frequency bands. The spectrum of the giant micro-pulse in a wide frequency range will be obtained, which is helpful to distinguish whether the emission physics for the giant micro-pulse and the normal micro-pulse are same. We will also obtain the polarisation profiles over wide-band and the dependence of pulse width and observation frequency to confirm their temporal origin. Finally, we will compare the polarisation properties of the giant micro-pulses to the typical giant pulses.
