our results reveal dual mechanisms for the translocation and degradation of Hdc to ensure that histamine synthesis is restricted to axonal terminals and that histamine is rapidly loaded into synaptic vesicles. This is crucial for sustaining neurotransmission and protecting against cytotoxic monoamines.
