Experimental coevolution between Ralstonia solanacearum and filamentous phages

The interaction between bacteria and filamentous phages, particularly in the context of bacterial pathogenesis, remains relatively understudied compared to the well-documented interactions involving lytic phages. Here, we investigate the coevolutionary dynamics between Ralstonia solanacearum, the causative agent of plant bacterial wilt disease, and filamentous phages. The total DNA of the cultures at the 4th, 8th, 12th, and 16th coevolution transfer was extracted and subjected to genome resequencing to identify the filamentous phage resistance mutation.
