Strains from a collection were isolated from two microscale soil samples. They belong to different quorum sensing groups and are ecologically distinct. Using WGS we will look for genes responsible for antimicrobial production and resistance, determine core/accessory genes and phylogeny of the isolates. We will also use genome sequences to search for plant growth promotion genes, because B. subtilis is a plant growth promoting bacterium.
