Genetic requirements for uropathogenic E. coli proliferation in the bladder cell infection cycle

We conducted a series of genome-wide genetic analyses of UPEC requirements for proliferation throughout the cellular infection cycle (human bladder epithelial cells). By developing and applying transposon insertion-site sequencing, we attributed the role of genes to key stages of the infection cycle, and then studied several of their functions individually. This led to some important general conclusions about survival requirements for UPEC during infection.
