Curtobacterium pomorum sp. nov. a bacteria isolated from apple fruit in Japan

The genus Curtobacterium, belonging to the family Microbacteriaceae , was first isolated by Yamada and Komagata in 1972 and was separated from the genus Corynebacterium. As of October 2024, 11 valid scientific names have been registered as genus Curtobacterium species on the DSMZ database. We have isolated a new Curtobacterium species from apple fruit cultured in Japan, named Curtobacterium pomorum (strain KT1), and sequenced its genome using hybrid assembly of long-read (PacBio) and short-read (DNBseq) data.
