Estimation of the De Novo Mutation Rate and Characterization of genome-wide properties in Chicken

To better understand how mutation rates evolve, a broader collection of species need to be considered. Herein, we present a mutation accumulation approach in a 17-generation advanced intercross line in chicken to fill this research gap. Using genome-wide high-depth sequencing data,we discuss the implications of high levels of spontaneous variation in chicken, the importance of estimating germline mutation rates using a MA approach, and the interacting factors influencing the spectrum of mutation parameters.
