VPRS 13990 Schedule of Decisions [of the Forests Commission]

The Forests Commission became part of the newly formed Department of Conservation, Forests, and Lands (VA 1034) in 1983. Although the new Department was officially formed on 2 November 1983, its new administrative structure did not come into effect until 1 July 1984. With the introduction of this new administrative system, the minutes of the Commission ceased and the Schedules of Decisions commenced. The Forests Commission continued to hold regular meetings as part of the larger Department, recording its recommendations in the smaller, monthly schedules. This ceased in 1987 when the Conservation Forests and Lands Act 1987 (Act No. 1987/41) transferred all functions and authorities of the Forests Commission Victoria to the newly formed Conservation, Forests and Lands department.Unit one contains the official typed Schedules of Decisions, where as unit two contains the handwritten and corrected notes and procedural information that were used to construct the official version. Unit three contains a file copy of pages from VPRS 3222 from 1982 until 29 June 1984, and the Schedules from 1 July 1984 through to October 1984, reflecting the administrative change from minutes to schedules occurring from July 1 1984.The Schedule continued to cover all aspects related to State Forests in a format similar to the agenda items of the previous series. Topics covered include timber royalty rates; the authorisation of staff to issue C licences; pulping committees and agreements; farm forestry loans; land purchases; road maintenance and closures; and National Parks, reserves, and resorts. The function of the series was to consolidate information relating to State Forests and forestry policy and put forward recommendations for the approval of the Minister of the Department.
