This study conducted an exploratory assessment of GAS infection by strain resolution metagenomic methods, combined with the results of bacterial culture methods and their corresponding single bacterial results, and evaluated the feasibility of reconstructing the core gene sequence of pathogenic bacteria from metagenomic samples for disease outbreak studies based on hundreds of highly conserved housekeeping genes. The results indicated that the use of strain-resolution metagenomics would improve the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis and facilitate clinical treatment and epidemiological investigation.
