Hohenbuehelia longicolla sp. nov. (Pleurotaceae) from Swat, Pakistan, and two new country records

Hohenbuehelia Schulzer is a genus of nematode-trapping, pleurotoid fungi
that grow on a variety of substrates in forest ecosystems. Despite its
high species diversity and complexity, it remains taxonomically
underexplored and unrevised. In this study, morphological and phylogenetic
analyses were conducted to confirm the identification of Hohenbuehelia
specimens collected during a mycological survey in the district Swat,
Pakistan. The Hohenbuehelia filolageniformis S. Hussain is
described as a new species, while H. tremula and H. wilhelmii are reported
as new records to the country. H. filolageniformis is morphologically and
phylogenetically well-differentiated from other species of the genus. This
study contributes to the understanding of the global diversity and
distribution of Hohenbuehelia in Pakistan.
