These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This 30-meter resolution raster data set of land cover for the conterminous United States ("NLCDep0905") was designed to describe conditions representative of the year 2000 and is the result of overlaying enhanced 1992 National Land Cover Data with 2000 population data at the block group geographic level.
